WATCH: Walter Scott's Family PASSIONATELY Reacts After Mistrial in Michael Slager Murder Trial
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina jury hasn't been able to decide whether to convict a white former police officer in the shooting death of a black man -- so the judge has declared a mistrial. Former patrolman Michael Slager was charged with murder in the shooting of Walter Scott, but jurors were also allowed to consider a lesser charge of voluntary manslaughter. Cellphone video showing Scott being repeatedly shot in the back from a distance inflamed the national debate about how blacks are treated by police.
This is insane, here you have 12 jurors working with this case, 11 out of the 12 believe the cop who shot Walter Scott is guilty, while one juror is playing Mickey Mouse around the issue instead of stating the obvious truth. I also smell a setup, I believe the jury was picked exclusively to do this so the whole case would be thrown out. They never wanted to convict this trigger happy cop in the first place.
