NPR moved the ball forward a bit with a new report two weeks ago, noting that the organization acknowledges accepting money from foreign sources, though the NRA denies anything improper.

In case this isn’t obvious, given the enormous amount of money the NRA receives for its endeavors, these revised totals of donations from Russia represent a tiny percentage of the organization’s budget and that of its affiliates.

First of all Ron the NRA is not far-right. Have you read the McClatchy report? Who's the former NRA board member? Do you know who the board members are, how they become board members, how long they serve, what they do?

I never thought about the running of The Board at The NRA and that information is not relevant to this conversation at all.

Cleta Mitchell, who represented the NRA for years, is on a newly disclosed list of people whom Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee are seeking to interview. Democratic investigators for that committee’s Senate counterpart also are interested in what she may know about relationships between the NRA or its allies and wealthy Russians, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

Mitchell told McClatchy in an email that any suggestion she has concerns about the NRA's Russia connections is a "complete fabrication."

The sources declined to detail the specific nature of the information prompting investigators’ interest in Mitchell, a prominent gun rights champion, election law specialist and veteran conservative operative.

Since this investigation is still on going, it would be premature until Cleta Mitchell has her chance to testify before the House Intelligence Committee.
