Authoritarianism means, rule by force and not by law. If you have power, that's what entitles you to keep power under authoritarian rule. Corruption and Authoritarianism always go hand in hand because if you rule by force and not by law, there is nothing to constrain you. There is no such thing as legitimate opposition to you and there is no check or limits on your power with the government. So if you got authoritarian control you turn the power of the state to your own purpose.
