GOP Sen. Ron Johnson (Wis.) blocked a proposal to provide another round of stimulus checks for the second time on Friday - this time when it was offered by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

Sanders, speaking from the Senate floor late Friday afternoon, tried to pass his bill that would provide a second $1,200 stimulus check for Americans making up to $75,000, the same language passed during a March CARES Act.

"This is not a radical idea. This is an idea that is supported by President Donald Trump. It is an idea that is supported by President-elect Joe Biden," Sanders said. "The American people cannot wait any longer; they need economic relief right now. ...vThey need help and they need it now."

Sanders is the second senator to try to pass a bill Friday to provide a second round of $1,200 checks. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) also tried earlier Friday and was similarly blocked by Johnson, who argued that additional coronavirus relief needs to be targeted and voiced concerns about the country's debt.

"I'm not heartless. I want to help people. ... I voted for the $2.2 trillion CARES Act but I am also concerned about our children's future. ... We do not have an unlimited checking account," Johnson, who is up for reelection in 2022, said after he blocked Sanders's request.

I know today is Sunday Steve, Do you see what the Republicans are doing to the Low and middle-class workers?

"What is Half of 1,200 dollars Steve?

I am sure you can figure that out, any day of the week.

Steve Williams Monday, December 21st 2020 at 12:18AM

Who says it should even be $600 Ron? I don't need $600 for my grandkids to pay for. We shouldn't be subsidizing lockdowns with money we don't have.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Monday, December 21st 2020 at 9:58AM

Steve, Have you asked yourself Why is the second stimulus check only $600?

Good question. The original $1,200 number was thought to be linked to the federal minimum wage. It roughly equals $7.25 an hour times 160 hours of work in a month. The $600 sum is half of that, of course, but also matches the weekly enhanced unemployment checks approved by the CARES Act earlier this year.

The two parties have spent months fighting over the overall cost of the package and how targeted the relief should be. Even as late as Thursday afternoon, as negotiations were winding down, Trump was privately pushing for stimulus checks of up to $2,000.

You may not need $600 for your grandkids but there are many American Families who are not blessed as you are Steve and they need the money. Stop being so damn selfish Steve.

Steve Williams Monday, December 21st 2020 at 8:04PM

$600 is printed money with nothing to back it up. My grandkids are going to be left with the debt you're so anxious to create Ron. You are the selfish one.

Steve, Since 1971, U.S. citizens have been able to utilize Federal Reserve Notes as the only form of money that for the first time had no currency with any gold or silver backing. This is where you get the saying that U.S. dollars are backed by the "full faith and credit" of the U.S. Government.

Let me underline this tern " full faith and credit" of the U.S. Government. Do you understand what having the full faith and credit" of the U.S. Government means Steve?

Do you understand what $27,000,000,000,000 is?

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Monday, December 21st 2020 at 11:14PM

In other words, you don't have a clue of what it means to have The full faith and credit" of the U.S. Government.

YOUR WORDS: Do you understand what $27,000,000,000,000 is?

MY REPLY: Yes I do Steve. That is a lot of money and that what it takes to be a world leader. Steve, that is the reason why you are living better in this country than you would in many countries in the world.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 at 8:41AM

Do you understand that Steve?

Steve Williams Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 at 6:59PM

Do youn really believe the "full faith and credit" of the U.S. is behind $27,000,000,000,000? No Ron, there is no possible way we can ever pay it back.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 at 8:30PM

Steve, The national debt has to be paid back with tax revenue, and the only thing we know for sure, Death and Taxes, those things will go on.

Trump tried to get around Taxes and look at what he is doing to this country to stay away from The New York Attorney General Letitia Ann "Tish" James. Trump knew as long as he was President, The New York Attorney General Letitia Ann "Tish" James could not prosecute him and his crime family.

What is this 💩 talk that Marshall Law was discussed in The Orval Office so TRUMP can possibly stay in Office, can you believe that?

Steve Williams Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 at 8:46PM

If they were talking about martial law in connection with hacked voting machines, of course that's fine Ron. I think that all suspect voting machines should be seized as potential criminal evidence. For instance, the malfunctioning machine encountered by me at my precinct on Election Day.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 at 9:46PM

Where is your Proof? That right DAMN, you said that you reported your experience to TRUMP.

GOP Sen. Ron Johnson (Wis.) blocked a proposal to provide another round of stimulus checks for the second time on Friday - this time when it was offered by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.).

The Republicans don't want to help the Low and Middle-Class people.

Steve Williams Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 at 10:26PM

Trump does though.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 at 11:07PM

Trump won’t sign this relief bill because he wants $2000 per-person.

Steve Williams Tuesday, December 22nd 2020 at 11:56PM

Won't that "help the Low and Middle-Class people?"

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Wednesday, December 23rd 2020 at 8:57AM

You know for a FACT if TRUMP wanted the American people tp have $2000 per-person, he could have done that months ago.

Who pays the price....? The American People.
