Lou Dobbs Thanks Trump for Support After His Fox Show Gets Canceled

Conservative media host Lou Dobbs thanked former President Donald Trump for his support on Friday night, after it was announced that Dobbs' show on Fox Business was canceled.

"Thanks for your kind words Mr. President. God bless you and all the American patriots who make this country great," Dobbs wrote on Twitter.

Dobbs was one of Trump's fiercest media supporters, and routinely defended the president through his false claims that the 2020 election was riddled with voter fraud. His statement of gratitude came after the former president called him "great" and counted himself among a "large and loyal following" that will continue to support him.

"Lou Dobbs is and was great. Nobody loves America more than Lou. He had a large and loyal following that will be watching closely for his next move, and that following includes me," Trump said on Friday in a statement that Dobbs later shared.

Fox Business confirmed Friday that Dobbs' program, Lou Dobbs Tonight, would be taken off the network and replaced with Fox Business Tonight, hosted by Jackie DeAngelis and David Asma for now.

The cancellation came a day after the network, Dobbs and others were sued for $2.7 billion by the voting software company, Smartmatic, for spreading misinformation about election security.

However, Fox News said the cancellation was not because of the lawsuit, but instead came due to programming changes that are "regularly" considered.

"FOX News Media regularly considers programming changes and plans have been in place to launch new formats as appropriate post-election, including on FOX Business. A new 5PM program will be announced in the near future," a Fox News Media spokesperson told Newsweek.

In response to his cancellation, Dobbs retweeted statements from supporters and fans who praised the media figure and criticized the network for taking him off the air.

That happens to Lou because he repeated those LIES of 45? Wow!!! Say goodby to FOX NEWS LOU.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, February 7th 2021 at 12:38AM

Those LIES have cost LOU his job as you can see.

Steve Williams Sunday, February 7th 2021 at 3:14AM

BIA cares why?

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, February 7th 2021 at 3:47AM

Steve, this is a prime teaching moment and this lesson focused here on THE REPEATED LIE. This is just more proof Steve, “YOU CANNOT PROOF A LiE.”

But yet you and people like you will continue to follow that X President LIES, that the 2020 presidential election that he lost by a landslide, said the president Elect is NOT the President, the loser is, the election he lost BIG.

45 LIES are telling your weak mind that he is still the president, even after his evidence was kicked out of courts some 81 times but yet you still want to believe in this LIE, do you election was stolen.

Why would you believe lies that U.S. Court will not here Steve? Why would you do that?

Steve Williams Sunday, February 7th 2021 at 4:18AM

My understanding is that Lou Dobbs had a large following but the ever fearful corporations weren't spending their advertising dollars on him. The show was in trouble anyway and with the lawsuit it wasn't worth the fight. But I have to wonder why you think it's newsworthy.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, February 7th 2021 at 9:07AM

Because LOU got FIRED for spreading 45's LIES, now if that ain't newsworthy, what is?

Why would you believe lies that U.S. Court will not hear Steve? Why would you do that?

Steve Williams Sunday, February 7th 2021 at 6:14PM

For years you paid no attention to Lou Dobbs and now after the fact you act like the big man. Right.

Steve Williams Sunday, February 7th 2021 at 6:16PM

Since you know all about Lou, what's he saaying right now Ron?

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Sunday, February 7th 2021 at 9:05PM

You really don't know who I have been paying attention to Steve So you can STOP that in it's tracks.

Is "DONE!!!" Lou Dobbs paid the price for carrying 45's LIES.

LOU got FIRED for spreading 45's LIES, now if that ain't newsworthy, what is?

Why would "YOU" believe lies that U.S. Court will not hear Steve? Why would you do that?

Steve Williams Monday, February 8th 2021 at 8:22AM

I didn't often watch Lou Dobbs but he was an excellent commentator on Trump. Fox has its share of whores, like Chris Wallace and Eric Shawn, but Lou Dobbs is a man of integrity.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Monday, February 8th 2021 at 10:23AM

You have two questions that you have overlooked Steve, PAY ATTENTION:

LOU got FIRED for spreading 45's LIES, now if that ain't newsworthy, what is?

Why would "YOU" believe lies that U.S. Court will not hear Steve? Why would you do that?

Steve Williams Monday, February 8th 2021 at 9:56PM

To your first question, Lou Dobbs can tell you why he got fired. I know that Trump won by a landslide Ron, and that's that.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Monday, February 8th 2021 at 10:13PM

Ok!!! We will take it one at a time:

LOU got FIRED for spreading 45's LIES, now if that ain't newsworthy, what is?

Steve Williams Tuesday, February 9th 2021 at 12:33AM

Lou's ratings were down, nothing more.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, February 9th 2021 at 8:43AM

Don't you understand that LOU did not get FIRED because of his rating Steve?

By the way Steve, you can stop that LIE of LOU's low ratings because Mr. Dobbs was the highest-rated host on Fox Business. He often doubled his lead-in's ratings.

Now let's explore why LOU got FIRED and it is real simple:

1. Now Steve, this is Murdoch attempting to put out the fires that were attached to Lou Dobbs and his pro-Trump rhetoric. "Lou Dobbs Tonight" is off the air, effective immediately, a Fox spokesperson confirmed Friday, and an interim show will take Dobbs' place starting Monday.

Get over it, LOU DOBBS has been "FIRED" for carrying the lies of 45's.

That is just putting it mildly.

Steve Williams Tuesday, February 9th 2021 at 11:57AM

It was only due to a loss of advertising revenue. Advertisers didn't want to be associated with Lou's rhetoric even though it was God's honest truth.
