Mary Wallace Broke Barriers When She Became CTA's First Female Driver
She was a driving force for change in Chicago -- in 1974, Mary Wallace became the first female driver for the CTA. As we celebrate Black History Month, our Vince Gerasole sat down with a pioneer of Chicago's roadways.
This is history I saw personally and retired from as a Professional Bus Operator. Sister Mary Wallace brazed the trail for other Black Women to make a career as a "Bus Operator."
