Ron, raising the age to 21 won't help you define "assault weapon" and "assault rifle" refers properly only to military full auto weapons. I have an AR-15 that I built myself and it's not an "assault weapon" because as I told you, it's a deer rifle. It's not the 223 Remington/5.56 NATO that you make so much of it's supposed carnage. Why do you think the 223 Remington is not suitable for killing deer? I use a 125 grain .30 caliber bullet at 2100 fps in my AR-15 for deer hunting. Again, how do you define ASSAULT WEAPON, that you want to deny to 18 year old deer hunters?

To save lives, try bringing the standards of protecting our children, "physically, mentally and psychologically," up to Robert's, then you will have what your heart desires.

and I might add: "As much as we can." We should not never had to have this conversation of parents had to put their children in graves because of this horrible school shooting of third and fourth graders by a 18 year old thug who by law could legally buy a military style AR-15 wespon.
Ron, I personally oppose all background checks, whether under state law or federal law. The fact is, the Uvalde shooter took and passed a background check because it was federally mandated. If the age to purchase a rifle were 21 and the Uvalde shooter had been 21 when he bought his gun, he would have likewise taken and passed a background check. Federal law trumps state law, as I KNOW you are aware.

Ron, there is no waiting period. That was before NICS, when you had to wait five days to find out if you were approved or not. The "I" in "NICS" stands for INSTANT. In reality the background check can take 15 minutes or so, and I once had to wait more than an hour.
Steve, If this new development is true and if Texas participated in looking into the child background checks of Salvador Ramos, he would NOT have been eligible to pass his state Background Check, 19 third and fourth graders and two teachers would not have been shot to death in their classrooms at school because that would have been a RED FLAG on that thug.
