The former president hammered Barnes' opponent, Republican Sen. Ron Johnson, for floating the idea of including Social Security as part of the yearly budget approvals.

"If Ron Johnson doesn’t understand that – if he understands giving tax breaks for private planes more than he understands seniors working all their lives are able to retire with dignity and respect – he’s not the person who’s thinking about you and knows you and sees you," said Obama. "And he should not be your senator from Wisconsin."

Is Illinois still a Democratic cesspool? Yes.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, November 1st 2022 at 10:45AM

Tell me something Steve, do you want The Republicans to put a hold on or cut Social Security as a bargaining chip if they get back in power?

Steve Williams Tuesday, November 1st 2022 at 12:06PM

I'm not the least bit worried they will Ron. Future Senator Oz will fight for Pennsylvanians. Social Security is a Ponzi scheme.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, November 1st 2022 at 1:31PM

Steve, you are not getting Social Security?

Steve Williams Tuesday, November 1st 2022 at 6:23PM

Yes Ron, I get Social Security. It's still a Ponzi scheme. That's why you have to worry about it.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, November 1st 2022 at 8:38PM

If this is a Ponzi scheme, then why did these words come right out of the Republican said of the aisle: Graham confirms Republicans would go after Social Security, Medicare if they get a Senate majority https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2022/6/14...

If Republicans take over the Senate, Graham promised, they will start right in on the cuts. It’s not idle talk, by the way, as Graham is the ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee—he’d take over in 2023 if Republicans win the majority.

Steve Williams Tuesday, November 1st 2022 at 9:01PM

I repeat Ron, I'm not worried. Nothing can be done about Social Security now because the younger generation can't be left holding the bag. Social Security is a self-perpetuating Ponzi scheme, just as it was intended to be by Roosevelt.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Tuesday, November 1st 2022 at 9:43PM

All I can go on is the words, that was what is said by our elected leaders and this like this Republican Lindsey Graham. Got it!

Steve Williams Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 4:46AM

Politicians say many things that are wrong Ron. You don't have to go on anything.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 9:36AM

Sens. Bernie Sanders and Lindsey Graham held a debate about the economy Monday at the the Edward M. Kennedy Institute in Massachusetts, aired on Fox Nation. The event was supposed to be some kind of kumbaya bipartisan thing, bringing the two sides together for a discussion about the economy. Sanders, an independent from Vermont, gave a full-throated defense of the vision progressives have for America: a public health care system, a living wage, and tax fairness. Graham, a South Carolina Republican, reiterated his party’s dream of ending Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

This is what I got to go on and that came directly out of the mouth of South Carolina Republican Lindsey Graham's mouth, why do you think he said that, Steve?

Steve Williams Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 1:13PM

If Lindsey Graham has a dream, so what Ron? Dream on.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 1:33PM

That is the reason why the people must come to vote because the Lindsey Graham Republicans are in the wings.

Steve Williams Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 2:53PM

What Lindsey Graham Republicans? They need 60 remember.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 3:44PM

If the republicans can tell the people of The United States of America "THE BIG LIE" that the 2020 election was stolen from and more of those same people are running for public office today, they could get those 60% of those republicans to close ranks and there will be no more democracy as we know it today.

Steve Williams Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 5:35PM

Nobody that I've heard has suggested the Republicans could end up with 60 votes. I'm glad to hear Obama won't make a dent Ron.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 8:56PM

No but I am sure you heard that The Republicans need just one vote in the Senate over 50% to start taking control of the current investigation on Trump and shut it down. They will open up a new investigation on Hunter Biden just to mention a few.

Steve Williams Wednesday, November 2nd 2022 at 9:41PM

Of course we will do that Ron. Still, we're probably looking at 56+ Republicans.

Dea. Ron Gray Sr. Friday, November 4th 2022 at 7:45PM

Interesting!
