What is the National Day of Racial Healing? 'Healing is essential for racial equity'

The National Day of Racial Healing is a failure and always will be.

That is what you think. Now here is the purpose: January 17, 2023, marks the seventh annual National Day of Racial Healing. On this day, individuals, organizations and communities across the U.S. come together to explore their common humanity and build the relationships necessary to create a more just and equitable world.

On January 17 & 18, 2023, the National League of Cities will host a special two-day celebration in recognition of National Day of Racial Healing in Washington, DC. This event will explore how to reconcile the past and proactively promote healing and justice for all.

Racial healing is a tool and a process for celebrating our common humanity, acknowledging the truths from our shared history, and recognizing our collective potential. Through racial healing, we can forge deep, meaningful relationships, lay the groundwork to transform broken systems, and bridge the divides to transform communities for our children and future generations. Racial healing is not only important, but also essential. Because healing is at the heart of racial equity.

This convening will provide leaders with the essential tools needed to:

Understand the importance of acknowledging your city’s racial history.

Apologize to those who have been directly impacted.

Atone for the harm done.

Enact policies that will improve outcomes for all members of your community moving forward.

It's a failure because it's one-sided Ron. It's just a way for certain folks to vent and does nothing for the rest of us.

The annual National Day of Racial Healing is only a failure to nobody here on Black In America but you Steve.

"When we envisioned (in 2016) how we could support the actions of people inspired by Dr. King," Tabron said, "we envisioned thousands of people coming together. People who we know are in communities doing this work, and we envisioned supporting them to build communities where children thrive. And seven years later, now we are seeing millions of people come together all across our nation, and we are very excited that each year this movement has produced great outcomes for children and families."

Seven Years of Service and still moving forward.

Sorry Steve, but it seems that you are the LOSER, who has nothing positive to say about LIFE it's self.

Did you watch MSNBC's town hall on "racial healing" last night Ron? What do you think "racial healing" is Ron? Someone observed that you are going backwards and I agree.

Going backwards! To where Steve? The annual National Day of Racial Healing has been growing for seven years now, reaching millions. Now, I called that success and moving forward.

Ron, there is no difference except that saying "colored people" is more forthright.

Then what color are colored people, Steve?

Apparently Ron, it means everyone who is not European. But I saw a program the other day on C-SPAN, a presentation by Dr. Fay Yarbrough, author of Choctaw Confederates, who when she said Colored People was referring to the slaves, as opposed to the Choctaws who were also slave holders. Dr. Yarbrough herself looks like her heritage may be native American but that's just a guess.
