Hank Aaron, who is hailed by many as one of the greatest baseball players in the history of the game, was born in Mobile, AL, on this day in 1934. After getting his start in the National Negro League, Aaron transitioned into the newly integrated major leagues in 1954 and played 21 seasons with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves in the National League, and the Milwaukee Brewers in the American League. In his 23-year career, he famously broke the career home run record set by Babe Ruth, set the major league records for total bases, extra-base hits and RBIs. He was elected to the baseball Hall of Fame in 1982, having received the second highest vote ever.
