The Atlanta Daily World newspaper begins running as a daily publication.
On this day in 1932, the Atlanta Daily World newspaper began running as a daily publication. Founded by William A. Scott III in August 1928 as semi-weekly publication, the Daily World would become the first successful African-American daily newspaper in the United States. The Daily World covered topics including lynchings, police brutality, the Scottsboro Boys trial, discrimination in the federal government and school segregation, and it was the first newspaper to report on “Black-on-Black” crimes. It’s still published today.
