I'm Constantly Hearing the Word "Diaspora" and I'm Wondering How it Applies to Us Present Day

Can someone explain that to me? Is it just another word to use or does it have meaning to us present day? For the record, I know what it means and that's precisely whyI'm posing the question.

Isaac, LOL. Yes, I did mean "enlightened." I'm laughing at myself right now. Thanks for the commentary. Why do you suppose the the use of the word diaspora seems so important now...as in 'today'?
