Why come to my neighborhood and sell that?

I asked an Arab man, who owns several chicken places here in Dayton why is it that his brothers sell things in their convenient stores that they wouldn't dare sell in the country of their birth. Why do they sell alcohol, tobacco products, and pork products to our people? More specifically, why are they selling it to our children in Dayton, Oh, in neighborhoods that would be considered predominantly poor? Why is it I don't see them in Huber Heights or Centerville, or Miamisburg in the same volume I see them in the Santa Clara, Five Oaks and Fairview neighborhoods? These are my neighborhoods!!

I was told that they come to America to do what they cannot in their country. I was told that if their family knew what they were doing, they would be cast out (really?). I was also told that a true Muslim wouldn't do what they are doing.

I don't know. From my house I could probably walk to 4 of their stores.

I would love to have friends in all walks of life, but not if they are trying to perpetuate the cycle of death on me and mine.

I am sure, too, that he had an issue with the fact that you had the audacity to point out wrong.
This shows how much work we have to do on our blocks. Our people have to be educated about the businesses in thier neighborhoods.

I would write a very "correct" letter to the owners, and cc. the Imam. If the Black Islamic community is working together then you can set up a meeting and try to work out, a middle of the road agreement. Selling pork is Haram. Period. I wish you well.
