LOVE DOESN’T STING, IT BRUISES LIKE HELL

Compromise, sacrifice, no longer are things done with being just you
Or at least no decisions can be made by you alone
We fall in love, waiting for happy days
And somehow along that road, we miss a turn.
What I mean is that, in the beginning
There is no struggle in feelings
No argumentative nights just bliss
But somehow I still manage to be able to come up
With a poem such as this

I’ve seen this happen time and time again
We think we know everything there is to know
When it comes down to the opposite s*x
But what about those times when those people step out of the ring
And in walks your true opponent?
Being that “love” can become your enemy in the blink of an eye
Never was on your side to begin with
By default we blame ourselves
Accusing every individual that comes along our path
Cause internally we screaming for help.

How is an adjustment made within a relationship?
“Baby, we have to agree to disagree.”
We gotta give a little to get a little and yet
You still want the rest of me?
Love is a mediator trying to remain neutral
In those heated times
Love is the enemy that slept with the spouse
Now walking away to the other side

Why won’t the heart do what the mind tells it?
Why won’t emotions just go away
We waste an entire freaking lifetime searching for this person
To blow it by trying to date?
But what happens when nature takes its course
And steers you into another direction
Do you stop and ask the man in the mirror
Only to look at your own reflection?

In an instance just as this: the old folks say
Just pray and wait for your answer
Now I can’t necessarily agree with that
Cause I need this response a little bit faster
And honestly I don’t even know what it is I’m truly after

A game, a battle, a tug of war
Either my way or the highway
The prize of the game is your players heart
And that’s a high price to be paid
We lose some and we win some
But what did we truly win?
To find another victim to our legacy
Until the cycle repeats all over again

Scars causes forbidden truth and brick walls to be built
Never to trust your instincts again
Now we susceptible to anything as long as we don’t
Get hurt the same way that we just did
All night we thinking and pondering about the new found freedom up ahead
But is that just a temporary front put up as a fake like you actually want to roam
When you know you get depressed just knowing no one is waiting for you at home?

The movie screens get your head all twisted up
You don’t get a love jones for your love & basketball
You get a thin line between love and hate
Cause true players don’t experience a downfall
Not to talk against all the marital bliss people
Or provide negativity to the hearts filled with hope
But im only telling you what the people won’t
So by far you learning more than most

When is the last time you had that tingling feeling when you and your mate kissed?
When Is the last time you even smiled when you thought of who you with?
I guarantee that every person with they ears or eyes open right now
Are trying to come up with an answer to this

Good girls like bad guys
The good couples once fresh immediately turn stale
Man there ain’t no happy ending to this fable
Cause in love, those scars bruises like hell!
