It's been a long time...
since I've smiled and you've brought that out in me
You reached down in the depths of my soul and set my spirit free.
Your sincerity, your kindness, your character and integrity
are all things that bring to the forefront what a real man is supposed to be.
My mind I had closed to the thought of ever loving again,
Thinking in a world full of boys I would never
run across the likes of a man.
Time has a way of changing things helping one see the light
In time I've learned to love myself which takes me to an all new height
Time has given me the chance to get to know you, grow to love you;
now we've spread our wings and taken flight.
My heart I had locked and thrown away the key
Thinking there would never be a man who knew how to love and communicate with me
You made your way through all my defenses saw past my imperfections, insecurities and grief
You took your time and built a foundation from trust giving me the comfort to release to you the inner makings of me.
It's been a long time since...
I loved someone because I was afraid of being hurt, afraid of giving too much of myself and losing my recently discovered self-worth.
I now know that because I am love and I exude love in all I do and say
that to truly love and be loved in return I had to open up my heart and trust in God letting him lead you my way.
My life had been lonely before you came along, Unknowingly I wrote you into existence.
You presented yourself now I sing love songs and want to someday become your wife.
I had to go through in order to get to, God was preparing me for you.
The life I've lived and overcome made me the woman you'd choose.
It's been a long time...
And well more than worth it...
Now I continually take the "Journey Of Growth" daily
and instead of alone it's with you!
